Event Video | Parade Broadcast
During my later years designing for the Macy's Parade Studio I wanted to pursue never-before-seen types of parade elements. I coordinated with the talented fabricators at Signs & Shapes, International, and our own studio engineers to ideate on a new type of element: a self driving float platform enapsulated almost entirely by a cold-air balloon. Thus the 'Floaloonicle' was born.
Heinz came to the parade with a desire to promote their Gravy brand line. A gravy boat was a perfect use-case for this new element; a large round bow exterior and a platform above. I wanted to incorporate this new element with ancillary self-driving balloonicles for additional storytelling. The final result was the Heinz Gravy Pirates!
